Sound
familiar?

Staying halal in Korea is harder than it looks. Halal Seoul was built to solve exactly these problems.

🤔

Everything is written in Korean

You pick up a product at a convenience store, but the entire ingredient list is in Korean. Even running it through a translation app doesn't tell you where each ingredient comes from or whether it's halal.

😰

Is this gelatin pork-derived?

Gelatin, carmine, shortening — you can't tell the source just from the name. Googling Korean-specific product information almost never gives a clear answer, so you're left guessing.

⏱️

It takes way too long

Ten minutes just to pick one packet of ramen. The time spent manually searching ingredients for every product you consider buying adds up fast — and it never gets easier.

📍

Where can I eat halal nearby?

Halal restaurant info is scattered across old blog posts and group chats — rarely in English, almost never up to date. Finding a place to eat before Maghrib shouldn't require 20 minutes of searching.

What Halal Seoul gives you

Four features built around Muslim daily life in Korea — scanner, prayer, community, map.

📷

Halal Scanner

Point the camera at a barcode for an instant Halal / Haram / Mashbooh verdict. No barcode? Photograph the ingredient label — AI reads and checks every ingredient for you. Pork derivatives, alcohol, and ambiguous additives flagged immediately.

🔄

Halal Alternatives

When a product is Haram, Halal Seoul doesn't just stop there. Verified halal alternatives in the same category are surfaced instantly — so you never leave the store empty-handed.

🕌

Questions we hear often

No. Halal Seoul is not an official third-party halal certification body. This service is an information tool that uses AI to analyze product ingredients and indicate whether they meet halal standards. Use the results as a reference — final halal judgment and responsibility remain with the user.
We support barcoded products distributed in Korea. Most food, beverages, and snacks sold at supermarkets, convenience stores, and online shops can be looked up. Products not in our database can be analyzed by submitting an image or manually entering the ingredient list.
No. Even after cancelling, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. Only the automatic renewal is stopped. All features continue to work normally right up to the expiry date.
Key flagged ingredients include pork-derived ingredients (gelatin, lard, collagen, etc.), alcohol (ethanol, etc.), ambiguous animal-derived additives (carmine, shortening, etc.), and certain E-code additives. Each ingredient is labeled Safe, Caution, or Danger with the reason clearly explained.
Prayer times are calculated based on your current GPS location using standard astronomical calculation methods. Times update daily and are provided for all cities in Korea. Qibla direction is also calculated from your real-time location — no manual city setting required.
Yes — any registered user can suggest and review places. Submissions go through a basic community verification process before appearing on the map. This keeps the data fresh and reliable, driven by people who actually live and eat in Korea.
We're currently preparing for beta launch. Beta registrants will receive a priority notification the moment it goes live — and can use the full app for free during the beta period. Sign up for beta now to get early access.
